Wichit marijuana dealer apprehended, bought stash through Facebook
PHUKET: Provincial police arrested a 28-year-old man yesterday after a raid of his home turned up 1.3 kilograms of marijuana.
Nopparut Tongserikun was arrested after police found the category 5 drugs, along with drug paraphernalia at his house on Wirat Hong Yok Road in Wichit sub-district.
Police received a tip from an informant that Mr Nopparut was allegedly selling marijuana out of his house.
“Our source informed us that Mr Nopparut was currently in possession of a large amount of marijuana and was waiting to sell it to customers,” said Major Ritthichai Choomchuy of the Phuket Provincial Police.
“We sent in undercover officers to wait for him outside the house, who then frisked him and found him carrying drugs. We then raided the house and seized the rest of Mr Nopparut’s stash,” Maj Ritthichai said.
Mr Nopparut reportedly confessed to police that the marijuana belonged to him and that he bought it from a dealer in Bangkok through Facebook. After paying the dealer, known by the alias ‘Mr Ann,’ he received the marijuana via post. Police reported that Mr Nopparut confessed to smoking marijuana and also selling it to customers in the area.
“Mr Nopparut was taken to Phuket City Police Station after the raid, where we will question him and broaden our case in order to arrest the dealer in Bangkok,” said Maj Ritthichai.
