Motorbike taxi driver assaults UAE tourists in Patong

Patong Police are still yet to confirm any action taken against a motorbike taxi driver who assaulted two tourists from the United Arab Emirates in Soi Saen Sabai on July 29.

The incident took place in front of the Hallo Massage shop, leaving the two tourists injured. The police were alerted to the situation around 10pm.

The victims, identified as 33 year old Mohamed Abdulla Hassan Mirak Alblooshi, and 25 year old Abdullah Mohammed Ali Ibrahim, were walking near the massage shop when a motorbike taxi driver approached and honked at them to clear the way. After they moved aside, the driver parked his motorbike, walked up to the tourists, and punched them both before fleeing the scene.

Patthipat Phuengpisawong has been identified as the 30 year old motorbike taxi driver involved in the incident. He is registered as living in Moo 6, Kathu, said a police spokesperson.

“The victims reported the assault to the investigative officer, who is now working to track down and apprehend the suspect for prosecution.”

The investigation is ongoing as police continue their efforts to locate the suspect and bring him to justice, reported The Phuket News.

In related news, motorbike taxi drivers brutally assaulted a tourist, rendering him unconscious outside a prominent shopping mall in Patong Beach. A video clip shared on Facebook by Phuket Info Centre revealed the attack, sparking outrage and criticism from netizens.

The incident took place on July 15, at approximately 3am, when a group of motorbike taxi drivers attacked a tourist outside the Central Patong Mall. The video shows three drivers kicking the tourist until he lay unconscious on the roadside.

A bystanding male tourist attempted to intervene but the group of drivers walked away shortly after. Subsequently, a female tourist arrived by motorbike and assisted the injured individual.

The video, lasting 20 seconds, was shared with a caption highlighting the incident, urging police and relevant authorities to take action.
