Fire destroys apartment in Rassada
Fire has gutted an apartment in Rassada this morning.
Staff at the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation heard about the fire at the apartment in Soi Sakornket in Rassada at 7.45 this morning.
Three fire engines arrived at the apartment on the ground floor of the building. Fire and smoke had totally engulfed the room. It took firefighters about 15 minutes to control the fire. Furnishings inside the room has been damaged but the fire hadn’t affected the building structure.
The apartment owner told police that no one was in the room but that the air conditioner had been turned on this morning just before the fire started in a storage room in the apartment.
At this stage police believed that the fire started from a malfunction of the air conditioning unit.
