Blind community offered boosted standards and legal venue registrations
PHUKET: The Thailand Association of the Blind (TAB) organized an informational discussion at the Bhukitta Hotel & Spa on Wednesday to boost the standard of blind massage parlors and tweak their registration process.
The event was led by Phuket Vice Governor Chokdee Amornwat, alongside deputy director of the TAB Surat Puengsiriwathana, and Petrat Techatracha, head of The Blinds Vocational Promotion Association. About 90 blind masseuses from the southern region attended.
“We have always given importance to blind people’s careers,” said Mr Surat. “More than 7,000 received education from our association, after which most either went for a job or opened their own massage business.”
According to the new Healthcare Venue Act, strict rules have been implemented regarding legalizing all massage businesses via registrations as official venues without any illegal activities.
Similar seminars were organized in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Pattaya.
