Video Report: Children’s Day kicks off in Phuket tomorrow

PHUKET: Put the youngsters to bed early tonight, because tomorrow is Children’s Day, which means Phuket will be aflutter with fun activities and entertainment.

The first Children’s Day in Thailand was in 1956, since then, government leaders have annually branded the event with a slogan. This year, the slogan created by Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha is “knowledge and virtue together will move us into the future”.

“Chidren’s Day gives us the chance to show children just how important they are to us and to our country. They will be the ones who will move our nation forward,” Phuket Governor Nisit Jansomwong told the Phuket Gazette. “This is a chance for us to be together with our children.”

Gov Nisit will be opening up the Governor’s Residence to take children on tours, while his office and the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization (OrBorJor) will stage shows and be giving away bicycles.

Here is a schedule of just some of the other regional festive highlights taking place tomorrow.

Patong:
8am to 3pm: There will be 16 stages throughout Loma Park on Patong beachfront road, offering a variety of games, entertainment and food for all to enjoy.

All day Saturday and Sunday: Jungceylon will be holding an outer space themed event with games and entertainment.

Thalang:
4pm to 8pm: Laguna Phuket will be hosting a celebration at the Waterfront Activities Ground close to the Canal Village Shopping Center. There will be a “Kids Got Talent Contest”, with more than 50,000 baht in prizes.

Phuket Town:
8:30am to 3:30pm: There will be two main stages and eight sub-stages at Saphan Hin, as well as a plethora of food and activities for kids and parents – including a magic show.

Kathu:
8:30am to 3:30pm: Activities and entertainment will be held at Prince of Songkla University Phuket Campus on Wichit Songkram Road.

Cape Panwa:
9am to 4pm: Phuket Aquarium will be hosting a variety of activities and games focusing on the underwater world and environmental responsibility.

8:30am to 3pm: There will many unique opportunities for kids joining the festivities at the Third Area Command Royal Thai Navy Base, including the chance to board the ship Bangpakong, as well as get inside a helicopter.

Wichit:
8:30am to noon: There will be giveaways and activities at Suan Sri Phuvanart Park. Additionally, there will be an acrobatic and magic show put on by Wonderful Show.

Srisoonthorn:
8:30am to 3pm: Karaoke and other fun activities will take place at the Srisoonthorn Local Administration Office (OrBorTor).

Rassada:
8am to 3pm: Food and games will be held at the Rassada Municipality Office.
