Video Report: Children’s Day kicks off in Phuket tomorrow

Legacy Phuket Gazette

PHUKET: Put the youngsters to bed early tonight, because tomorrow is Children’s Day, which means Phuket will be aflutter with fun activities and entertainment.

The first Children’s Day in Thailand was in 1956, since then, government leaders have annually branded the event with a slogan. This year, the slogan created by Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha is “knowledge and virtue together will move us into the future”.

“Chidren’s Day gives us the chance to show children just how important they are to us and to our country. They will be the ones who will move our nation forward,” Phuket Governor Nisit Jansomwong told the Phuket Gazette. “This is a chance for us to be together with our children.”

Gov Nisit will be opening up the Governor’s Residence to take children on tours, while his office and the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization (OrBorJor) will stage shows and be giving away bicycles.

Here is a schedule of just some of the other regional festive highlights taking place tomorrow.

8am to 3pm: There will be 16 stages throughout Loma Park on Patong beachfront road, offering a variety of games, entertainment and food for all to enjoy.
