Undercover police nab Ecstasy pusher
PHUKET TOWN: A man accused of selling the illegal drug Ecstasy at Phuket nightspots has been arrested after selling the drug to an undercover police officer. Phuket Town’s Chief of Drugs Suppression Pol Lt Col Witoon Kongsudjai, was among officers who arrested Prasit Ploy-iam, 34, on Tuesday afternoon. “He had been selling drugs for a long time,” Col Witoon said. “We’d been watching him until we were sure of what he was doing.” An undercover officer bought a pill for 1,000 baht from Prasit at a restaurant on Yaowarat Rd. Prasit was immediately arrested and taken to his home, also in Yaowarat Rd. “In his home we found another 29 pills in the pocket of a shirt hanging in his bedroom, along with 4,700 baht cash,” Col Witoon said. “He confessed that he got the pills from Bangkok.” Col Witoon added that the man’s customers were rich teenagers or high-society clubbers in Phuket. Prasit has been charged with dealing drugs and with possessing drugs with intent to sell.
