Two Princesses to visit Phuket
PHUKET: HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will visit Phuket on March 11 and HRH Princess Ubol Ratana Rajakanya will visit Phuket City on March 14, the Phuket Provincial Office announced at a meeting held on February 26 in preparation for their arrival.
Princess Sirindhorn will make stops in Phuket, Krabi and Phang Nga during her trip.
On March 11, Princess Sirindhorn will arrive at Phuket International Airport and travel by helicopter to visit The Chaipattana Foundation office on Koh Yao Noi. The Chaipattana Foundation supports the careers of local people by providing them with venues to sell their local arts and crafts.
She will then return to Phuket City by helicopter, landing at Saphan Hin football field and travel by motorcade to the grand opening of Khun Poom Mahidol’s Home (Baan Khun Poom) at Wachira Phuket Hospital at 2 pm.
Khun Poom Mahidol’s Home is one of many autistic childcare centers built around Thailand in memory of Khun Poom, HRH Ubol Ratana’s autistic son who was lost to the 2004 tsunami.
After the ceremony, Princess Sirindhorn is scheduled to visit Satree Phuket School on Damrong Rd. The school’s botanical garden is part of a royal project providing students with a hands-on opportunity to study botany and the environment. Students will hold an exhibition of their science projects for Princess Sirindhorn to view.
The Princess will then travel by motorcade to the Phufa Shop grand opening at Banthai Beach Resort in Patong. The Phufa Shop will sell local goods created by organizations such as The Chaipattana Foundation. Princess Sirindhorn will then stay the night at the Banthai Resort.
The following day, she will travel to Koh Surin and hold private meetings until March 14, when she will pay a visit to Krabi before returning to Bangkok.
On March 14, Princess Ubol Ratana will arrive in Phuket to chair the Southern Thailand round of the To Be Number One dance competition at the Royal Phuket City Hotel before returning to Bangkok about 8 pm.
