Traffic drive nets 1,000 offenders in 5 days

KATHU: Police here have been showing that they are serious about their crackdown on traffic violations. Between December 1 and yesterday, they fined nearly 1,000 people for a variety of offenses. In many cases, people were cited for more than one violation. A total of 914 people were charged with riding a motorcycle without a helmet and were fined 100 to 200 baht, while 108 were charge with having more than two people aboard a bike and fined 200 to 300 baht. In addition, 437 people were fined 300 baht when it was found that they were unable to produce driving licenses, and 43 people were caught parking illegally, incurring fines of 300 baht for motorbike owners and 400 baht for car owners.
