Thailand’s first Thai, female marina manager takes reins at RPM
PHUKET: Royal Phuket Marina confirmed the appointment of Thailand’s first Thai, female marina manager, Woranart Wongvanich.
Ms Woranart has worked in Thailand’s marine industry for more than 20 years, more than 10 of those at Royal Phuket Marina, where she has worked her way through the ranks to her current management position.
“Joining Royal Phuket Marina at the beginning, I have enjoyed being part of the development team and have seen the marina and facilities grow. I admire the vision of the Chairman, Mr [Gulu] Lalvani, who is always looking to develop the company and marine tourism in Phuket, and am very proud of his confidence in appointing me as the Marina Manager,” said Ms Woranart.
Being the only Thai female Marina Manager in Thailand, and one of just a few Thai nationals who have ever held the post, Ms Woranart acknowledges the importance of team work.
“The most enjoyable part of my work at Royal Phuket Marina is the marina team. They are passionate and professional. I am proud to be a part of this team and together we strive to deliver the best service possible to our customers,” added Ms Woranart.
Prior to embarking on a career in the marine industry, Ms Woranart worked in the travel industry and made a name for herself in companies such as Diethelm Events (Phuket), Tropic Asia Tours, The Travel Company, Fast Boats, Asia Voyages and The Pansea Resort.
Ms Woranart brings this hospitality and tourism experience to the table in her new role and is confident in the potential of Phuket and Thailand’s marine leisure tourism.
“It’s encouraging that the central government sees the importance of marine tourism for Thailand. Here at Royal Phuket Marina we look forward to working closely with government officials in all departments to promote and develop the industry further.”
