Teen survives shooting
KOH KAEW, PHUKET: A 16-year-old boy being treated at Vachira Phuket Hospital for gunshot wounds was shot in the chest and right arm early on the morning of December 28, a local Thai-language newspaper has reported.
Phuket City Police received a 191 report of the shooting at about 2 am.
By the time police arrived at the scene, at the intersection of Thepkrasattri Rd and the Sapam-Samkong Rd, the victim had already been rushed to hospital. They found the youth’s motorcycle lying in the middle of the road, surrounded by curious onlookers.
Police questioned another youth at the scene who identified himself as a friend of the victim.
He told police he rushed to the scene after hearing about the shooting from his girlfriend, who was carrying a mobile phone. The youths had all been out together that night and after eating noodle soup had just split up to return home, he said.
The victim left on a motorcycle with another friend, who might be able to tell police who had carried out the attack, the youth added.
Assigned to investigate the shooting was Phuket City Inspector for Investigations Wichak Tarom. The lieutenant colonel has been given the nickname “The Magnet” by the local media for his ability to crack tough cases and bring criminals to justice.
