Schoolboy in love triangle machete attack

PHUKET TOWN: A high school student has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly chasing two fellow students on a motorcycle and slashing one of one them with a machete. Pol Lt Kittitat Dangnui, of Phuket Town Police Station, told the Gazette that police were called into Wachira Phuket Hospital at about 1 am Thursday to investigate an incident involving four teenage boys. “Sut”, 16, a student at a well-known Phuket Town school, told police that he was on the back of a motorbike driven by his schoolmate, “Wat”, 16, around Saphan Hin late Wednesday. A boy named “Man”, 16, who attends the same school, started to chase them on his motorbike. He had a friend riding with him on the back of the bike. A chase ensued along Sakdidet Rd. As they reached the ST Plaza Hotel, Man drew up alongside Wat’s motorbike, withdrew a machete and slashed Wat’s right hand. Wat lost control of his motorcycle and he and Sut tumbled onto the road. Man stopped his bike and, wielding his machete, approached Wat, where he lay on the road. As he made to cut Wat’s neck, local residents ran to help, and Man ran away. Man and his friend escaped on his motorbike. Wat and Sut were rushed to hospital. Wat suffered deep cuts to his right arm, while Sut had minor cuts and scrapes on his face from the fall. Sut told police that Man was angry because Wat had been trying to take away his girlfriend. Police went to Man’s home in Koh Sireh. After questioning, the boy confessed that he had been very angry with Wat, and had wanted to punish him. Police seized Man’s motorcycle and machete and have charged him with attempted murder. Man’s friend has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Both boys were placed in custody at the Phuket Town police station.
