Phuket call for urgent blood donations

PHUKET: The Phuket Regional Blood Center is calling for urgent blood donations, especially of types A- and O-.
Pornthip Ratthajak, director of the Red Cross Phuket Regional Blood Center, said the blood was needed for two emergency cases: a leukemia patient at Bangkok Hospital Phuket and a Danish road accident victim at Vachira Phuket Hospital who desperately needs O-.
In this emergency case, donations can also be made at the Vachira Hospital Blood Bank on the hospital’s 4th floor.
The Blood Center is also giving away heart-shaped souvenir gift boxes in the hope of getting people to donate blood on Valentine’s Day, she said.
The Blood Center is open as follows:
– Mondays and Wednesdays: from 8:30am to 4:30pm (no break for lunch)
– Tuesdays and Thursdays: from 8:30 am to 8pm (no break for lunch)
– Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays: from 9am to 3pm (no break for lunch)
To bolster blood stocks, mobile blood collection clinics will also accept donations at the following locations and times this month:
February 14: 9am to 3 pm, Phuket Wittayalai School
February 15: noon to 5pm, HomePro Chalong branch
February 16: 9pm to 3pm, Phuket Technical College
February 21: 1am to 4pm, Radi Medical Systems, Thalang
February 22: 9am to 3pm, Phuket Vocational College, Saphan Hin
February 23: noon to 5pm, Bangkok Phuket Hospital
February 24: 11am to 5pm, Jungceylon, Patong
February 25: 1pm to 4pm, Mission Hospital, Rassada
February 27: 11am to 7pm, Big C Supercenter, Wichit
