Phuket airport limo in vehicular bovicide
PHUKET: A Phuket airport limousine plowed into and killed a roaming buffalo early Monday morning at the same location where a tourist passenger van killed two buffaloes late last month.
No people were injured in this latest accident.
“The car was heading toward Phuket Town at about 1:30am. The driver said the buffalo appeared from nowhere, crossing the road right in front of the car. He could not stop in time,” said Thalang Police Duty Officer Lt Praman Yappayak.
The Toyota Altis struck the buffalo in front of the Shell gas station in Thalang, about 100 meters from the Bank of Agriculture and Agricultural Co-Operatives, Thalang branch.
A tow truck was called to the scene – now becoming known as a buffalo black spot – to remove the airport limo, which suffered such extensive damage that it could not be driven away.
Lt Praman said the owner of the buffalo had yet to step forward to complain of the vehicular bovicide.
Police will keep the carcass as evidence to be used in the investigation to identify its owner, he added.
