Phuket Sailing: Youth sailing club

PHUKET: It was a slow start to the day as sailors were greeted with blue skies and no wind. The morning was spent under the guidance of Akapoj Kankeaw (Tik) and Teerapong Tokratoak (Nu), both previous winners of the Phuket King’s Cup Optimist Regatta 2011, on racing tactics and boat tuning.

After lunch, a steady breeze picked up, which provided great sailing and racing conditions, allowing the sailors to put the morning’s training into practice. The fleet competed in all three planned races for the day.

Results Optimist Fleet
1st: Charlie skippered by Cartoon Juladej (Toon)
2nd: The Sponsorship Experts – PP(SEA)CL skippered by Nattapong Yoangngam (Max)
3rd: DaVinci skippered by Salawautt Kullaatt (Ta)

The club is still looking for companies to sponsor 6 more Optimist boats and is also looking to secure sponsorship for this season’s regatta program, starting with the Phuket King’s Cup International Dinghy Regatta 2012 – new for 2012/13.
