Phuket Poll: What would you spend B2.6bn on?
PHUKET: There has been nothing but eerie silence since Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra ignored questions about what happened to the 2.6 billion baht that was once “already dedicated” to building Phuket’s decades-in-waiting International Convention and Exhibition Center (story here).
In recognition of that silence – and the fact that the money “already dedicated” was provided by a loan from the World Development Bank (story here) – we ask you, the Phuket Gazette reader: “What would you spend 2.6bn baht on (for Phuket) if it were sitting in your living room in cash, shrink-wrapped and ready for delivery?”
Options available in our latest online poll include:
• Establishing a light-rail system on Phuket
• Setting up extensive, effective environmental protection measures
• Installing island-wide CCTV and boosting Phuket’s police force
• Solving the island’s stray dog problem
• Developing a Phuket Night Entertainment Super-Mega-Plaza
• Launching a Phuket blimp
