PHUKET: Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck a motorcycle on the road between Phuket International Airport and Thepkrasattri Road late last night.
Police were notified of the incident at 11:05pm, said Lt Col Sanit Nookong of the Thalang Police.
“We received a call from a passing motorist reporting that a woman had been an injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver,” he told the Phuket Gazette.
At the scene, near Thalang Technical College, officers found Phanthip Phengsombun, 24, lying on the road near her motorcycle.
Her left leg and left arm were broken, and she had suffered minor head injuries. She was taken to Thalang Hospital by Kusoldharm Foundation rescue workers.
A pink helmet was found at the scene, Col Sanit confirmed.
“Witnesses said they saw a car travelling at high speed hit Ms Phanthip,” Col Sanit said. “Nobody could recall the car model or licence plate. The driver did not even stop to see the victim, but kept heading toward Thepkrasattri Road.”
Officers have begun their search for the driver, he added.
“We are now investigating this crime. We have collected evidence from the scene and hope to learn more information from Ms Phanthip,” said Col Sanit.
