‘Phuket Brand’ logo to revive consumer confidence, says Gov
PHUKET: A newly revived ‘Phuket Brand’ logo can now be used by businesses to boost consumer confidence, the Phuket Office of Commercial Affairs announced yesterday.
“The logo has been designed and approved since 2009 in order to promote the island’s goods and services,” said Decha Phetwong, chief of Phuket’s Office of Commercial Affairs. “But for some reason, it has not really been used until Phuket Governor Chamroen Tipayapongtada revived it last month.”
At this stage, the plan is to divide businesses into five categories; spas, restaurants, public transportation, local products by One Tambon One Product (OTOP), and agricultural products, Mr Decha explained.
Mr Decha announced that each category will be handled by relevant officials who have authority in their related fields.
“Applicants can apply for the ‘Phuket Brand’ logo starting next week. Businesses should apply at the government office handling their product category,” Mr Decha said. “Once the committee receives the application, it will review the company based on price, product or service quality.”
Spa and restaurant applicants will be managed by the Phuket Provincial Health Office; public transportation applicants by the Phuket Land Transport Office; OTOP applicants by the Phuket Community Development Office; and agricultural product applicants by the Phuket Provincial Agriculture Office.
Mr Decha added that the list of the first round of businesses that have qualified for the logo will be announced in March.
“We will continue to review, expand or amend the list, perhaps once every three to six months. We may even have more categories to add to it in the future as well,” he added.
