Austrian suffers fatal heart attack on Patong Beach
PHUKET: An Austrian tourist died yesterday evening while swimming with his partner at Patong Beach.
Anton Heigl, 73, was out in the water with his partner Maria Tretthann, 63, when he fell unconscious, confirmed Patong Police Lt Col Anukul Nuket.
Mr Heigl was rushed to Patong Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Ms Tretthann told police that Mr Heigl had a preexisting heart condition.
Doctors confirmed the cause of death as cardiac arrest.
