Over 300 Netted In Crime Suppression Effort

PHUKET TOWN: District patrolmen and crime suppression officers arrested more than 300 suspects on various criminal offences during the Phuket Provincial Police Department’s latest reporting period. In its crime report covering October 1 through October 25, the department said officers charged one suspect with murder, eight with assault, one with criminal sexual assault, 52 with theft, and seven with firearms violations. Authorities also placed in custody 134 individuals in connection with 50 gambling raids, and 98 suspects on drug offences, including 14 for possession of ya ba (amphetamine pills). Police seized a total of 507 amphetamine tablets during the arrests. A total of 15 suspects were apprehended by police in Kathu district on commercial sex charges. Authorities also arrested 70 individuals on illegal entry charges during the latest reporting period.
