PHUKET: A Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) was conducted at Loma Park on Patong Beach yesterday by the Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command.

The SAREX featured air and sea rescue drills, as well as exhibitions on maritime safety.

Demonstrations and reenactments performed as part of the training were meant to emulate real-life maritime accidents, giving officers the opportunity to put their previously acquired training to the test.

The exercises also provide valuable hands-on experience in using rescue equipment and communication systems to help prepare for real emergencies, the Navy says.
