Man ‘bathes’ in pothole to push road repairs

PHUKET: A Krabi local ‘bathed’ in a pothole Tuesday morning as a sarcastic act of protest against the condition of the roads in the area.

The man, who calls himself ‘Rosemary’, is 53-year-old Payong Noosiri. Several surprised locals watched as Mr Payong took pictures of himself bathing in a pothole in Krabi’s Baan Lamthap village.

Mr Payong said he was doing this to draw attention to the terrible condition of the road and to push the relevant officials to take quick action.

The road in question connects Baan Lamthap to Baan Kork Rai and falls under the jurisdiction of the Lamthap Tambon Administration Organization (OrBorTor).

Lamthap OrBorTor representatives said in response that they had already requested a budget to fix the road, but were told they would have to wait until next year.

Similar ‘protests’ were also reported to have occurred nationwide.
