Liverpool Legends stop in Phuket canceled
PHUKET: The Liverpool Legends tour series football matches, scheduled to take place in Phuket and Bangkok in October, has been canceled, the Gazette is sad to report.
Cris Rosenbergs, creator of the Football Legends Tour concept, informed the Gazette by email this morning that the series of charity fundraising events could not take place:
“Due to the obstacles and issues beyond our control we have found that the Legends of Liverpool tour is not possible to operate in 2011,” he wrote.
“We intended to operate this tour for charity fund raising for a good cause but it seems that there are various issues in our country that make such an event impossible and we have no choice but to terminate the tour events,” he wrote without elaboration.
“We regrettably advise that we must cancel all our requested arrangements with your newspaper group.
We thank you for your interest to support the event which we believe should have been of high value for all concerned. Thank you for your understanding of this difficult decision,” he concluded.
The Phuket leg of the charity event had been intended to raise funds for the Phuket Youth Football Home Foundation in Thalang, a charity set up by the late Hong Kong-based philanthropist Henrik Lorenz.
Mr Rosenbergs told the Gazette by telephone that all who bought tickets for the events will be entitled to a full refund and that a press release with more information will be issued soon.
