Last chance to vie for Carnival Queen
PATONG: The organizers of tomorrow’s Patong carnival are still looking for more contestants – Thai or foreign – to compete for the title of “Queen of the Andaman”. Gifts will be provided for all contestants, as will costumes, with a choice of traditional Thai, colorful Hawaiian or “fancy”. Each of the 10 contestants who make the second round will earn a ticket worth 1,500 baht to FantaSea and a gift from Thai Airways. The eventual winner will get a trophy as well as a round-trip ticket to Bangkok on Phuket Air; three days and two nights at the Diamond Cliff Resort and Spa Hotel; a 2,000-baht dinner at the Impiana Phuket Cabana Hotel; and a Phi Phi Island package tour from Paradise Cruise Co. The first runner-up will get a round-trip ticket to Koh Samui from Bangkok Airways; three days and two nights at the Impiana Phuket Cabana; a 1,500-baht gift voucher from the Baitong restaurant; and a Phi Phi Island package tour. The second runner-up will get three days and two nights at the Amari Coral Beach Resort; dinner worth 1,500 baht at the Holiday Inn Resort; a Phi Phi Island package tour; and souvenirs from Dragon Air. Entries will also accepted at the stage on Soi Bangla up until 8 pm. The contest begins at 8:40 pm. Carnival events start at 8 in the morning, ending at midnight. Buses will ferry revelers from parking zones, one in front of Baan Sai Nam Yen school, and the other at the municipal football field on the beach road.
