FantaSea to add “attractions’

KAMALA (The Nation): Phuket FantaSea theme park will add three new attractions this year: the Similan Entertainment Center, the Songbird Luminarie and the Tiger Adventure Safari.
Phuket FantaSea CEO Kittikorn “Pin” Kewkacha said the Similan Entertainment Center, to be located in the park’s Festival Village, will open July 14. The center will showcase the ocean world and feature games, novelty shops, and fast-food restaurants.
The Songbird Luminarie, to open in August, will exhibit hundreds of songbirds in front of a new “Palace Court”, where visitors will enjoy bird-singing contests, while Tiger Adventure Safari, scheduled to open by the end of this year, will exhibit rare animals including white tigers, an albino python and white monkeys.
Phuket FantaSea, Phuket’s largest recreation park, suffered from a downturn in the number of visitors following the tsunami. Revenue was 638 million in 2005, down by 407 million compared with 2004.
For the first three months of this year, revenue was 254 million baht.
