FC Phuket host Navy tonight
PHUKET: Beleaguered supporters of Phuket FC will be glad to return to the friendly confines of Surakul Stadium this evening, when their beloved Islanders will take on 7th-placed Navy. Kickoff is at 6:30pm.
The match will be a reunion of sorts for the three Phuket cheer squadrons – The Hulks, The Mask and The Hardcore – who got an unusual chance to bond with the team last Sunday night, when they were all effectively held hostage inside Krabi Municipal Stadium until 11pm.
The team and their supporters were not allowed to leave the stadium after they were set upon by a group of Krabi FC supporters, some of whom could not contain their fury after the Islanders played the Andaman Eagles to a hard-fought scoreless draw, despite being a man down for most of the second half.
The unprecedented incident cost the Krabi FC management a 60,000-baht fine levied by the Thai Premier League, which has also banned Krabi FC fans from their next home match.
