Eastin Yama property makes inroads into Phuket tourism market
PHUKET: Perched on the top of a hill, a prime piece of real-estate in the heart of Kata, Eastin Yama Hotel Phuket’s idyllic location already gives it an advantage over rival resorts in the area.
Part of the Absolute chain of hotels, the four-star Eastin Yama opened for business in October, but its savvy approach and innovative, sophisticated style has already begun to attract a broad spectrum of guests – from young honeymooning couples to business groups.
“From the start, our owner had a very clear concept for the hotel,” says General Manager Itthipol “Otto” Meesawat. “The name Yama in Thai means ‘heaven’ and that’s what we’ve set out to do… offer quality accommodation at an affordable price – a little bit of heaven – where our guest can ‘escape the crowds’.”
The hotel’s interior design also follows through on the Eastin Yama’s concept of a peaceful retreat, says
Mr Itthipol.
“Our interior design is based on the concept of the five senses: sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. Not only are the five senses a part of our design concept, they are also a reflection of the quality of our service – what we have to offer our guests.”
It is the Eastin Yama’s attractive hideaway theme coupled with the brand’s mantra to offer “value-for-location” that have quickly brought it recognition.
“One of our brand’s strengths is that we can offer real value-for-money in terms of our location. Whether guests are newlyweds, a family, or here on business – our staff are ready to cater for every scenario,” says Mr Itthipol.
The hotel also provides some unique services which have made it a hit with holidaymakers.
“Breakfast at most resorts finishes at 10am or 10:30am, but we have extended breakfast time another hour to 11:30am. We also offer ‘Laundry at Cost’, a bargain-priced laundry service – not easy to find in
most hotels.”
Another attraction for guests is the Eastin Yama’s room-ready guarantee.
“If guests give us their arrival time 48 hours prior to check-in, we guarantee their room will be ready when they arrive – otherwise the first night is free,” the GM explained.
Eastin Yama also provides guests with an all-day dining option at its contemporary Senzees restaurant, which boasts authentic Thai cuisine produced with fresh, organic farm produce. For guests wanting to delve into local flavors, part of the menu is reserved exclusively for Phuket dishes.
The restaurant is complemented by an adjoining hotel bar – all conveniently located on the hotel’s first floor next to the free-form swimming pool and jacuzzi – with a spectacular view looking down over the town below and Kata Beach.
Mr Itthipol also points out quickly that the hotel’s business clientele have not been forgotten among all the leisure options.
“We have meeting facilities that can accommodate up to 80 people, so we are also looking to attract small incentive groups – local and foreign. Right now, we are beginning to see incentive groups from regional destinations such as Singapore,” he says.
