Donations sought for flood victims

PHUKET TOWN: The Thavorn Grand Plaza Hotel has joined with TV’s Channel 7 to collect donations for the victims of Southern Thailand’s recent floods, which left thousands homeless. Juejan Panvickarn, PR manager of the hotel, told the Gazette that no money will be accepted. “People hit by the disastrous flooding need immediate help in the form of canned food, clothes and water,” she explained. The aid center will be open between 8 am and 5pm while the emergency lasts. Donations of food, drink and old clothes should be taken to the hotel’s car park where staff will be on hand to receive them. All aid given by the people of Phuket will be transferred to government-organized centers that will handle the final distribution to people affected by the floods. For more information contact the Thavorn Grand Plaza, Tel. 222240-50.
