Deadline for local ‘yellow pages’ listings
PHUKET: Businesses wishing to appear in the 2009 Gazette Guide, Phuket’s ‘yellow pages’, have until 6pm on Wednesday, November 12, to enter (or update) their listings. Businesses entered after that date will appear in the Gazette Guide Online only – not in the hard-copy book for 2009.
Listings, which are for Phuket Phang-nga, Krabi and Samui businesses only, can be entered (or updated) here. (Listings cannot be entered or altered in any way by Gazette staff.)
“Stale” listings, i.e., those which have not been updated for a period of 24 months, will be automatically deleted from the Guide database on November 14.
Basic listings are free of charge. Premium features, such as bold typefaces, extra business categories, web links and maps, are available at a nominal charge. The deadline for payment for such features is 12 noon on Saturday, November 15.
The first annual hard-copy Gazette Guide was released in 1996. The 2009 edition, due out mid-January, will set a record with details of roughly 4,000 Phuket businesses catering to the international community. All listings are in English and, as always, the book will be available in all guest rooms of Phuket’s leading hotels, with the 2009 edition scheduled for delivery on January 18.
Google Maps were added as a premium feature for listed businesses last month, so that visitors to the Phuket Gazette Online can now pinpoint precisely where a business is located – a major benefit in a community where postal addresses are often more confounding than enlightening. An example of the convenience of a Google map can be seen here.
