Call for entries for tourism awards

PHUKET: The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is inviting applications for the 4th Thailand Tourism Awards, to be presented in every region of the country on World Tourism Day on September 27. The program was set up in 1996 by the TAT with the aim of improving administrative and service quality in the industry, and to support sustainable tourism. Trophies will be given to winners in a number of industry categories including destinations, accommodation, tour operators, government-supported tourism projects and tourism-related media. Special awards will be given for ecotourism, agro-tourism and marine tourism. There will also be a “Friend of Thailand” award. The awards are open to individuals, businesses and government departments. To apply, or to get more information, call the TAT branch in Phuket at 076-212213, or the TAT 24-hour call center at 02-3699655.
