Another body found in “Burmese Cemetery’
PHUKET TOWN: The string of murders of Burmese fishermen continues with yet another body found in the notorious “Burmese Cemetery” area at the weekend. The body, stabbed more than 10 times, was found face-down at the end of Laem Tukkae, near Sri Sena Rd, on Sunday afternoon. The killing follows murders in two separate incidents last week. It brings the number of Burmese murdered since May 1 to nine, with seven of those dumped in the “cemetery.” At 3 pm on Sunday Pol Maj Anan Jingjit of Phuket Town Police Station received an anonymous phone call about the body. Officers found nothing in the area to identify the victim. They believe the man, who like most victims appeared to have been stabbed with a sharpened steel reinforcing bar, had been killed elsewhere and then dumped at the spot. The man was wearing only dark blue fisherman’s pants. Investigators estimate he had been killed at least four days earlier.
