Phuket-Norway co-operation to promote local use of Electrical Vehicles (EVs)
A meeting was held yesterday (May 7) at the Phuket Provincial Hall hosted by the Phuket Governor Norraphat Plodthong and the Thai Ambassador to Norway, Prasittiporn Wetprasit.
Joining them were Phuket’s Vice Governor Thawornwat Kongkaew along with a representative from Oslo, Sture Portuik and a representative from private sector, Snorre Sletvold.
Mr Prasittiporn says, ”The government are supporting Electric Vehicles (EVs) in order to reduce global warming. The most important factor for global warming is the use of gasoline in vehicles. Many countries are encouraging their citizens to use EVs in the future. Many people are using EVs already in Oslo. The meeting today is a good start for the cooperation.”
Governor Norraphat said “Phuket is ready to push this project. It is totally in keeping with Phuket’s vision to become a smart city. By promoting EVs, Phuket can continue to embrace its strategy to become a Smart Environment and Green City. We might start this EV project with public transportation. The Thai government is also supporting the use of EVs to reduce pollution for the future.”
