Phuket Harmony World Puppet Festival 2018 – Sponsorship available now

Puppeteers from around the world are expected to descend on Phuket in early November for the Phuket Harmony World Puppet Festival 2018.

Launched in 2013 by the Semathai Marionette Arts for Social Foundation, the Harmony World Puppet Festival is aimed at promoting puppeteering and helping people to express themselves while preserving their culture through marionette art. The five-day festival regularly attracts puppeteers from around the world, including productions from Europe, Asia and Africa.

The festival, now in its 5th year, has been held in various parts of Thailand including Samut Songkram, Bangkok, Rayong, Phuket and Kanchanaburi, giving it a strong regional presence. As well as preserving Thai culture, marionette art, and the art of puppetry, there is a focus on involving youth by giving them access to art and offering a way of expressing themselves.

Organised by Semathai Marionette Arts for Social Foundation and supported by the Thailand Exhibition and Convention Bureau (TCEB), Phuket Harmony World Puppet Festival 2018 will feature various outdoor stages and street shows, set against the island’s eclectic mix of Sino-Portuguese architecture and stunning natural beauty.
