Sleepless residents spark late-night booze bust in Pattaya

Pattaya City Police swooped on the SEE U bar in Soi Land Office 6 at 11.30pm last night, following a barrage of noise complaints from sleepless residents who said the racket was keeping them up and wrecking their peace.

Police didnโ€™t hesitate to act, dispatching officers under direct orders from Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyoo, Chief of Pattaya City Police Station. His Special Operations Team and Patrol Unit 2 rolled out to shut things down yesterday, April 9.

When they arrived at the scene in Nongprue, they arrested Jaryaporn, the barโ€™s manager (surname withheld). Police seized two receipts for alcohol sales as evidence, and the 24 year old bar boss now faces charges of selling booze without a licence and causing a public nuisance with earsplitting music, said a Pattaya police spokesperson.

โ€œNo matter the size of the issue, if it impacts the community, we will not overlook it. We are here to listen and act on every concern raised by the public.โ€

The SEE U raid marked the third bar bust in as many days, and the second this week sparked by noise complaints alone, following a crackdown on another noisy spot in Soi Bongkot, reported Pattaya News.

Police officers, led by Police Colonel Anek Srathongyu, raided a host bar in Pattaya operating beyond permitted hours on Tuesday.

The operation resulted in the detention of the bar manager for further investigation. The raid, conducted at 2.36am on April 8, was a collaborative effort involving the Pattaya City Police, special operations police, and district officers, including Nattapop Yomjinda, Natthawat Sophonsawetasilp, and Tharit Chancharoen from Bang Lamung district.

As part of a wider sweep, officers also carried out checks in the Soi Excite area to look for signs of illegal activity and conduct on-the-spot drug tests.

The latest sting is part of a broader campaign by the Royal Thai Police, Region 2 Police, and Chonburi Provincial Police to clean up Pattayaโ€™s party scene and keep the peace for long-suffering locals.
