The man had a pink Thai ID card, indicating that he was an expatriate rather than a tourist. The team also found a hat and sandals, presumably belonging to the man, on the fourth floor of the parking garage.

According to Warachai Tapyai, a 40 year old technician employed by the department store, no one observed the incident directly. Tapyai explained that he had been informed by a third party that someone had fallen from the building.

The Pattaya City Police are currently reviewing the CCTV footage to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the man’s fall. However, it is suspected at this stage that the German expatriate might have jumped from the building on his own accord.

This tragic news comes just days after a Russian teacher jumped from the roof of a car park at a major shopping mall in Phuket. The man who jumped was 32 year old Roman Shubenin, a Russian language teacher living in Phuket’s Wichit subdistrict with his sister and his sister’s partner. The deceased’s younger sister told the police that she doesn’t know whether her brother was under any stress.
