A severe disciplinary violation today led to the termination of service and revocation of military rank for a military official.

The Royal Gazette announced the dismissal, relieving the military official of duty and stripping him of his military honour medals.

The decision was made by sections 9 and 15 of the 2017 Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, in tandem with sections 4 and 9 of the 2017 Civil Service Act. Other statutes considered were sections 9, 10, 13, and 15 of the Royal Decree on Government Administration and Personnel Administration, sections 5 and 7 of the 1933 Military Discipline Act, as well as section 12 of the 1936 Military Rank Act.

The individual in question, Captain Thanakorn Tamul, who was serving as acting commander of the Second Small Military Operation Unit, the Standard Second Small Military Unit, and the Third Company of the Third Battalion, the Small Military Department, Royal Guard, was dismissed from service and stripped of his military rank. His medals of honour were also recalled.

The official will not receive any retirement benefits due to his severe disciplinary violation, which involved negligence, irresponsibility, and dereliction of duty that resulted in substantial damage to the government. He is classified as a type 2 discharged military officer under the Royal Service, reported KhaoSod.

The dismissal was effective from November 7 and was announced on November 10, in the 8th year of the current reign. The military official was relieved of duty and stripped of his military rank, with all medals of honour to be returned, reported KhaoSod.
