Prime minister’s grand almsgiving spectacle in honour of late king

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and a star-studded entourage gathered for a regal religious ceremony in Bangkok. The grand affair, coinciding with National Father’s Day, paid homage to the revered late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

As dawn broke, the 61 year old Thai PM, accompanied by his wife and an illustrious assembly of Cabinet ministers, Privy Council members, and military commanders, graced Sanam Luang with a sacred almsgiving ceremony. A breathtaking spectacle unfolded as 189 monks received offerings, echoing reverence for the late monarch.

The ceremony transcended political boundaries, with the presence of esteemed figures such as presidents of the Supreme Court, the House, and the Senate, along with representatives from the Constitutional Court and leaders of the armed forces. The National Police chief and permanent secretaries from all ministries added to the remarkable show of national unity.

Following the spiritual ceremony, Prime Minister Srettha and the dignitaries converged at the King Rama IX Memorial Park. There, in a poignant moment, they paid their respects before the imposing statue of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, symbolizing a collective remembrance of his enduring legacy, reported Thai PBS World.

Rajadamnern Avenue, the heartbeat of Bangkok, transformed into a mesmerising tapestry of lights and vibrant flowers. The stunning decorations along this iconic thoroughfare served as a city-wide canvas, an ethereal tribute to the beloved late monarch that captured the spirit of the nation.
