Pregnant Thai woman released on bail after killing mistress

Police released a pregnant woman on bail of 150,000 baht after she fatally attacked her husband’s mistress at a love hotel in the Min Buri district of Bangkok on April 21.
Police granted bail to a pregnant woman, posting 150,000 baht, after she allegedly launched a fatal attack on her husband’s mistress at a love hotel in Bangkok’s Min Buri district.
The 28 year old pregnant woman, Worrawan, followed her 28 year old husband, Bas, to a love hotel on Monday, Apriil 21, only to discover him lying naked with his 23 year old mistress, Potjanart. She then dragged Potjanart out of the room and physically assaulted her.
Security camera footage captured Worrawan repeatedly beating Potjanart until she collapsed to the ground. At one point, Worrawan was seen pulling up her shirt to reveal her pregnant stomach and shouted…
“You knew all along! You see! I’m pregnant!”
While the attack continued, Potjanart was heard pleading for her life by repeatedly shouting, “I give up. Please, please. You’ve got it all. I give up.”
Worrawan’s transgender friend intervened, attempting to stop the assault. The transwoman was heard saying, “Hey, stop. She can’t take it anymore. She coughed up blood. Stop.”
Hotel staff rushed Potjanart to a hospital but she later died from her injuries. Bas did not appear in the footage of the assault and remained in the room throughout the incident.

Bas later claimed that he did not intervene or assist Potjanart because he was drunk at the time and feared Worrawan, stating she had physically assaulted him on multiple occasions in the past.
In a previous incident, he said he required over 40 stitches after being attacked by her.

Bas also insisted that he had already ended his relationship with Worrawan but she refused to accept it and continued interfering in his new relationship with Potjanart.
It later emerged that Potjanart was also married and had a child. Her husband only discovered her secret affair after her death. Bas claimed that Potjanart had informed him about her child but insisted she was single.
Following the incident, Worrawan was held at Min Buri Police Station. As she showed no intent to flee and is heavily pregnant, police granted her temporary release on 150,000 baht bail on April 22.

Worrawan’s friend, 34 year old Sukanya, spoke to the media following the release. She apologised to Potjanart’s family on Worrawan’s behalf and said her friend felt deep remorse for her actions.
Sukanya also disputed Bas’s claims about Worrawan’s alleged abusive behaviour, stating instead that Bas was the abusive partner. She claimed the incident in which Bas sustained a wound requiring stitches occurred when Worrawan acted in self-defence by throwing a dish at him.

A neighbour of Worrawan gave a similar account to Channel 8, saying that Worrawan’s grandparents disapproved of Bas due to his alleged abuse. The neighbour believed Worrawan had not intended to kill Potjanart but had acted out of emotional desperation.
Sukanya said she intended to accompany Worrawan to Potjanart’s funeral to apologise directly to her family. However, the family and friends of Potjanart have rejected any reconciliation and stated that they would never forgive Worrawan, insisting she is not welcome at the funeral.
