Prachinburi temple draws crowds with seashell art and lottery luck
The bustling Prachinburi temple has become a hub for visitors seeking lottery numbers and blessings from Thao Wessuwan. Following a recent win of over 2 million baht, people are flocking to the temple for good luck.
The Wat Rattananetaram (also known as Wat Lan Hoi) in Samphantaam, Nadi district, Prachinburi province, yesterday, July 14, was teeming with tourists. They were drawn by the religious sculptures and structures, including Buddha statues, shrines, pavilions, and even a crematorium, all intricately decorated with over a million colourful seashells.
This unique embellishment has turned the temple into an unseen Buddhist attraction that beckons visitors from all over.
Tourists explored the beauty of the seashell-decorated sculptures and paid homage to various Buddha forms. The temple also houses a pavilion with the revered Phra Sak and a hall dedicated to the multi-coloured statues of Phra Pathom Boromma Maha Chakraphat.
Adjacent to the ordination hall, the site of Thao Wessuwan, tourists not only came to admire the seashell artwork but also to seek blessings for good fortune, particularly before the lottery draw. Many brought red flowers, incense, and candles to pay homage, praying for luck and hoping to win the lottery tomorrow, July 16.
Da, a visitor, shared her experience, saying she had already purchased a lottery ticket before coming to pay respects to Thao Wessuwan. She prayed for his kindness to help her win the first prize, recounting that she had previously won three- and two-digit prizes after Thao Wessuwan was newly installed at the temple.
Mam, a local, visited the temple for the first time to seek blessings from Thao Wessuwan. Meanwhile, Dao mentioned that she was attending a funeral at Wat Pho Sri and decided to visit Wat Rattananetaram to seek blessings and pray for good fortune, inspired by her car’s registration number, 695, just before the lottery draw.
Reports indicate that a tourist won the lottery on the 1st of this month after visiting Wat Rattananetaram. They admired the seashell-decorated sculptures and sought blessings from Thao Wessuwan before returning home, winning over 2 million baht and bringing traditional dancers to the temple to fulfil their vow, reported KhaoSod.
