Stretching across an expanse of over 10 rais and owned by Nong Prue Municipality, the garbage pond became a blazing spectacle upon the arrival of authorities, with thick black smoke billowing into the air, casting a pall over the surrounding neighbourhoods. The acrid stench of burning waste permeated the atmosphere.

To combat the flames and prevent further devastation, four water trucks were dispatched to the scene while an excavator worked to clear the burning debris. Water spraying operations followed suit.

The combined efforts of municipal authorities from Nong Prue, Banglamung, and Huay Yai proved fruitful as they managed to bring the blaze under control within a mere two hours, reported Pattaya News.

Initial probes hint at the possibility of a battery or power bank explosion igniting the inferno, prompting a thorough investigation into the incident.

In related news, a revered temporary rice husk pagoda at Wat Nakathewi in Udon Thani province was engulfed in flames at 9pm last Monday, February 5, leaving behind a charred metal framework.

Local disaster prevention and mitigation officials were alerted to the fire, which rapidly consumed the structure despite the efforts of firefighters, temple committee members, and residents. Notably, the temple’s cherished Luang Por Nak Buddha was saved from the blaze, unlike other statues that were blackened by the fire.

In other news, a blazing inferno swept through a small residence in Wichit, Phuket at the weekend leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Thanks to the swift action of local firefighters, the flames were kept from spreading to nearby buildings, saving the neighbourhood from a potentially catastrophic domino effect.
