6 year old girl drowns after being thrown into pond by grandfather
A six year old girl tragically drowned after being thrown into a pond by her grandfather in Bueng Kan. Police are investigating the incident which occurred yesterday, September 2.
Officers from Pong Hai Police Station in Bueng Kan province responded to a report of a young girl’s body found drowned in Bung Chaiwan pond, located in Ban Nong Teen Phuak, Nam Chan subdistrict, Seka district. The incident took place at approximately 7pm yesterday. Police, forensic investigators, a medical team from Seka Hospital, and rescue units, quickly arrived at the scene to investigate.
The body of the six year old girl was discovered in a large pond, surrounded by grieving relatives. The girl’s maternal relatives, who had been raising her since she was young, were particularly distraught.
The girl’s father is currently incarcerated in Bueng Kan Prison on drug-related charges. Five months ago, the paternal side of the family took over caring for the girl.
According to the relatives, the girl went missing the previous day, prompting an urgent search. The situation took a grim turn when a family member saw the grandfather wandering in the village.
When questioned about his whereabouts, he did not respond and appeared to be under the influence of drugs. Tragically, the girl’s body was soon discovered in the pond, leading relatives to suspect that the grandfather, in a drug-induced state, might have thrown her into the water, reported KhaoSod.
Police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
