A food delivery rider from the LINE MAN platform has been hailed a “hero” by Thai netizens and the Royal Thai Police (RTP) after he saved the life of a four year old boy near Bangkok.

The viral video posted on the TikTok account, ch_chamaiporn, showed the quick-thinking rider jumping off his motorcycle and running to rescue the little boy who was running across the road with speeding cars approaching. Thankfully, the rider managed to reach the boy just in time and both of them were unharmed.

The boy believed his father was standing on the traffic island and ran toward him.

The TikToker revealed in the video caption that the rider was her boyfriend. She said that she is always fearful her boyfriend could be involved in a road accident and was shocked when she saw the CCTV footage. She also hailed her boyfriend’s bravery.

The incident took place on Sunday, March 5 at around 3pm on Phra Ong Chao Sai Road in the Lam Luk Ka district of Pathum Thani province, near Bangkok.

The video quickly went viral among Thai Tiktokers, but unfortunately, it was later deleted from the platform due to some content policies. Nevertheless, the story gained attention from several media agencies and was shared on their platforms and Facebook pages.

The rider was later identified as 32 year old Peerapong Chumponwadee. He revealed that his motorcycle was fine but the food and drinks inside his delivery bag were all destroyed. Fortunately, the restaurant involved in the incident displayed empathy and understanding towards Peerapong’s predicament. The restaurant management graciously cooked a fresh meal for the customer without any additional charges, a gesture he reportedly appreciated.

In recognition of his courage, the Commander in Chief of the RTP, Damrongsak Kittiprapas, praised Peerapong as a role model for society and awarded him a certificate of honour yesterday. This earned him the nickname “rider hero” among Thai social media users.

Last September, a 19 year old student, Atthachai Argudom, was also praised as a hero by Thai netizens after helping to rescue a 12 year old boy who suffered from an electric shock. The teenager got a new mobile phone as a reward for his bravery and good deed as his former one was broken while helping the victim.
