Factory worker killed in 18-wheel lorry accident in Chon Buri

A tragic accident occurred today when a 28 year old factory worker was struck and run over by an 18-wheel lorry, resulting in her immediate death. The driver claimed not to have seen the motorcycle and was confused about when the collision occurred.

Police Lieutenant Chinawat Thisala from the Mueang Chon Buri Police Station received a report at 7am today, August 16, of a fatal accident involving a lorry and a motorcycle in Soi Charoensuk School, Village No. 2, Nong Ri subdistrict, Mueang district, Chon Buri province. He promptly arrived at the scene with the Tri Khunnatham Foundation rescue team.

The site of the accident revealed an 18-wheel Hino lorry with Chachoengsao licence plates and a trailer registered in Chon Buri, parked by the roadside. Nearby, a Yamaha Fino motorcycle with Uttaradit registration lay damaged, with a helmet scattered beside it.

The victim, identified as 28 year old Silaphan, was found near the rear of the trailer. She was wearing a torn factory uniform, and her body was severely mutilated by the lorry’s wheels.

The lorry driver, 43 year old Pipat gave his account of the accident. He stated that he was driving from his company to a worksite to collect soil as usual. Upon reaching the accident location, he did not see any vehicles on the road and was puzzled about how the motorcycle appeared.

“I heard a sound like a trailer running over a sheet of zinc. I stopped and got out to check, only to find that someone had been run over at the back of the lorry. I immediately called the police and rescue team to investigate.”

Initial police investigations will include reviewing CCTV footage from the area to understand the accident’s circumstances better. Pipat will also be questioned further to ensure all legal procedures are followed, reported KhaoSod.
