Ex Thai soldier brutally attacks father’s friend over alleged insult
A former Thai soldier brutally attacked a friend of his father in front of the victim’s young son after the victim allegedly looked down on him for leaving his military position to work as a security guard at an entertainment venue in Bangkok.
The 14 year old boy from the Isaan province of Roi Et asked a news Facebook page to help seek justice for his father, 45 year old Sakda, after the brutal attack on July 30. The boy revealed to the news page that three men arrived at his home looking for his father but his father was working in a rice field.
The three men asked the boy to lead them to the field. Upon arrival, one of the men held the child back while the others rushed to attack Sakda.
According to the boy, the two attackers beat Sakda with a wooden stick until his leg and two fingers were broken. They then cut Sakda’s leg with a knife and rubbed salt into the wounds. They placed firewood on the wounds and across Sakda’s body before throwing him into a small pond.
The three men took the boy back home, leaving Sakda at the scene with serious injuries. The boy waited until all of the attackers left and sought help from his neighbour. They sent Sakda to a hospital and filed a complaint against the attackers at Moei Wadi Police Station.
The alleged attackers were later identified as Louis, Top, and Park. Sakda’s 62 year old wife, Romyen, revealed in an interview with Channel 3 that the attack might have been motivated by a physical altercation between Sakda and Louis’s father, Somsamai.
According to a report on Channel 3, Sakda allegedly criticised Somsamai for permitting Louis to leave his military post to work as a security guard. He reportedly belittled Somsamai for failing to teach his son the difference between being a soldier and a security guard.
The two men subsequently had an altercation, which Somsamai later recounted to his wife, Romyen. Romyen then informed their son, Louis, who subsequently travelled from Bangkok to Roi Et with his friends to carry out the brutal assault.
Channel 3 reported that Louis contacted Moei Wadi Police Station to announce his intention to surrender but did not specify when this would occur. Officers will issue a summons before proceeding with an arrest warrant if Louis fails to turn himself in.
