A sombre atmosphere enveloped Wat Mujalin as a community mourned at the funeral for a 14 year old boy, who tragically lost his life in a reckless driving incident. The funeral was held yesterday, December 10, in the village of Wang Sai, Khlong Khlung district, Kamphaeng Phet province.

The boy, affectionately known as Mickey, was a student at Wachiraprakan Witthayakhom School. He was one of the victims in a devastating crash caused by a speeding pickup truck driven by an intoxicated driver.

Khlong Khlung District Chief Sadudee Phuttang led the funeral rites, attended by a significant number of mourners, including Anan Phonamnuai, a Member of Parliament for Kamphaeng Phet’s third district, and Benyamas Sabaimuang, a member of the Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Administrative Organisation.

School teachers, administrators, local leaders, villagers, and many of Mickey’s school friends joined in a heartfelt farewell, expressing their sorrow and grief.

Before the cremation ceremony, Mickey’s classmates gathered to sing The Best Moment by artists Boy Pod, as well as a folk song Rao Lae Nai by the band Loso, in front of the crematorium. The musical tribute served as a poignant reminder of the bond they shared with their beloved friend.

The atmosphere was heavy with sadness, especially for Mickey’s grandmother, who struggled to contain her tears throughout the ceremony.

One of Mickey’s friends, who witnessed the tragedy, recounted the events leading up to the accident. On the day of the event, he was present to cheer at the football match.

After the game, he noticed the pickup truck speeding behind his motorbike. The truck overtook him, and shortly thereafter, he saw it veering off the road.

Stunned and unsure of what to do, he waited for other friends to arrive to help. He saw the passengers in the truck’s cabin climbing out in distress, reported KhaoSod.

The driver, in particular, sat on the truck door, attempting to call her husband, who was the father of another friend. The friend expressed his deep sorrow for losing a companion so suddenly and unexpectedly.
