Cannabis vendor found dead with more than 30 stab wounds

Police are hunting for a murderer after a cannabis vendor was found dead with more than 30 stab wounds on his body in a rented room in the northern province of Nakhon Sawan. His roommate was conspicuous by his absence when police descended on the scene.

A 25 year old Thai man, Few, was the first person to discover the body of 28 year old cannabis vendor, Parut. Few explained that he is a neighbour and a customer of Parut. Yesterday, March 19, he noticed that the door to Parut’s room was left open, so he checked on him and found his body in the bedroom.

Few stated that Parut had only moved into the rented room a month ago. During the first two weeks, he stayed with a friend named U. Few last spoke to Parut on Monday, March 17, shortly before discovering his body.

Nongping Police Station officers reported that Parut was wearing only shorts and sustained more than 30 stab wounds on his body. The body was swollen, with the skin peeling off. A bloody knife was found in the room, and signs of a struggle and theft were evident.

Parut’s dog, approximately four months old, was locked in the bathroom and was heard constantly barking and whining.

A fried chicken vendor who operates a shop outside the accommodation told police that Parut would buy chicken for his dog almost every evening. She last saw Parut on March 16.

The vendor added that Parut had recently been dismissed from his job at a local cannabis shop, so he turned his rented room into a small cannabis store, allowing his customers to use cannabis inside.

Parut’s former employer, 30 year old Praisan, revealed to Channel 7 that he had just learned Parut had borrowed 15,000 baht from a local loan shark and was unable to repay the debt. The loan shark gang had previously visited the shop to look for him but Parut was not there at the time.

Police suspect that the motive for the murder could be related to the debt, a conflict with a friend, or a disagreement with a customer. Officers are also searching for U, as he may have valuable information about the case or may be involved in the murder.
