Mueang Pattaya Police Station officers arrested five Thai teenagers for trying to rob a Kuwaiti man in Pattaya in the early morning of yesterday, January 22.

Channel 7 reported that the 23 year old Kuwaiti victim filed a complaint against a group of Thai teens after he survived the attempted robbery at 3.30am yesterday. The foreign man explained that he was riding a motorcycle along Soi Yen Sabai before a teenage group asked him to stop in front of the Pius Place Hotel.

Immediately after he stopped, one of the teenagers pulled out a knife, threatened him and asked for money. The Kuwaiti shouted for help making locals in the area come to his aid and prompting the teenagers to escape the scene on their motorcycles.

Police reviewed CCTV cameras at the scene and managed to identify all of the teenage suspects. The teens were arrested on the same day, and their ages were between 11 to 15. The suspects confessed that a 17 year old man named Mile and a 16 year old man named Beam ordered them to commit the crime.

According to the teens, Mile and Beam would keep most of the money to themselves and share with them at 100 to 200 baht each. Mile allegedly spent the stolen money on motorcycle accessories and parties.

The official charges issued against the five teenage suspects were not made public, and officers did not report whether or not Mile and Beam would be summoned for questioning.

In a related story involving Thai teenage criminals, five teenagers aged between 13 and 16 in the Isaan province of Sa Kaeo were arrested for the murder of a 47 year old Thai woman, sending shock waves throughout Thailand. The teenage group brutally attacked the woman, Buaphan Tansu, and later left her to die in a pond.

In another related incident, more than 100 teenage prisoners at the Nakhon Ratchasima Observation Centre in Isaan clashed in a dormitory on Sunday, January 21. No weapons were found and authorities were able to control the situation two hours later. Twenty-four prisoners were injured in the fight.
