2 new cases, Covid-19 update (Sunday)

Thailand’s CCSA has reported 2 new cases of Covid-19 today, with a Thai soldier returning from South Sudan included in the daily report of new cases. The total of Covid-19 positive cases in Thailand sits at 3,636 with reported deaths remaining unchanged at 59.

The 36 year old Thai soldier tested positive on his 4th test on Friday after returning from South Sudan along with 180 other soldiers on September 22. The soldier had completed UN peacekeeping duties in the African country before coming back to Thailand. 31 soldiers on the same flight had also tested positive after returning.

The other new case was a 36 year old Japanese woman, who tested positive on her 2nd test on Monday. She arrived in Thailand from Japan on September 24 and was quarantined at a private hospital. It is currently not known if the 2 new cases displayed any symptoms of the virus.

It’s soo funny to me to have spent over 2.3 million USD on my dream home in Surin, only completed this January… and be locked out of my own property for 10 months now, this is the story of thousands of Thai Elite visa holders who’s concerns not to mention annual economic impact is being gravely overlooked and ignored. I’ve spent over $80,000 between March and today going from country to country in the EU (safely might I add) and counting… money that could’ve been returned to the crippled Thai economy. It’s beginning to make sense to cut my loses, sell the home and move elsewhere. I have no doubt that other wealthy expats are thinking the same!! Thailand has overplayed its hand with the tragically flawed, narrow minded and fear driven decision making of its lackadaisical leaders and as always it’s the least privileged that will pay the price… they want to fly in hundreds of Chinese tourists that collectively will inject €300 and not a penny more into the crippled economy, when in reality that is the budget for a decent days lunch for people like us… I can’t speak for anyone else but as for me? The Kingdom of Thailand has UNTIL December 31st.
