Tai Ping comes to town

PHUKET: Bangkok based fabric designer and manufacturer Thailand Carpet Manufacturing Plc opened its first satellite store in Phuket on June 25 to cater to growing demand in the province for high-quality custom- design flooring.
Targeting Phuket’s hospitality industry, the company, under the brand name Tai Ping, expects to earn about 20 million baht in revenue in their first year.
Located off the Bang Khu junction in Koh Kaew, the showroom features a vast range of floor fabrics in thousands of designs, such as hand-tufted carpets, shag pile rugs, tiles, laminated wood and British-made Axminster carpet.
Thailand Carpet Manufacturing Plc began business under the brand name Tai Ping in 1967 and has grown to become on of the world’s leading carpet manufacturers; listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) in 1994 and boasting control of more than 65 per cent of Thailand’s carpet market.
“Tai Ping has built its reputation on using only top-quality yarns, the best dyes and employing highly skilled weavers to design custom carpets for any situation,” Tai Ping director Sumate Suwanvongkij told the Gazette at the store’s grand opening event late last month.
“Tai Ping employs a team of about 20 designers and produces more than 50,000 square meters of carpet each month. Our specialty is creating customized carpets, especially for hotels and resorts. Orders are typically completed within 60 days.”
“The Phuket store was opened after seeing an increase in demand from local businesses and hotels, with an annual revenue of about 4 million baht. With the opening of the Phuket branch we can expect annual revenue to reach 20 million baht in the first year,” said Mr Sumet.
The company also offers carpet cleaning and repair services, and curtains, blinds and sofa fabrics are also on display.
