The wettest month of the Thai seasons has past. Now we head into cooler, and drier weather, at least in the central and northern regions.

Cooler weather is expected in Northern Thailand while a monsoonal trough over Southern Thailand is expected to bring heavy rain, according to the Thai Meteorological Department. Meteorologists say cool weather with isolated rain is possible for the North, adding that people in those areas should “keep heathy due to the changeable conditions”.

From this Saturday to Monday, a strong high pressure system from China is expected to cover upper Thailand and cause the temperature to decrease by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius, according to the department.

More rain with isolated heavy storms is expected in the South, according to the forecasts.

The wind is expected to pick up and cause waves in the upper Gulf to be around 2 metres and more than 2 metres in thunderstorm areas.”

A tropical storm Goni over the middle South China Sea is predicted to make landfall on the east coast of Vietnam during Thursday and then weaken before it crosses into Laos, Cambodia and then Thailand.
