2 alleged drug traffickers killed in shoot off with task force officers

Special task force officers shot and killed 2 men suspected of drug trafficking in a shoot off in Chiang Raiโ€™s Mae Fa Luang district during a 2-day drug suppression operation in 3 provinces. Altogether, authorities seized more than 9 million methamphetamine pills and arrested 2 men on drug trafficking charges.

In Chiang Rai, soldiers from the Pha Muang task force fatally shot the 2 suspected drug traffickers during a gunfire exchange. They seized 1,080,000 methamphetamine pills as well as some crystal methamphetamine. Reports do not go into detail about the fatal shootings.

Authorities made another bust at Chiang Raiโ€™s Saen Mai checkpoint and found 9 rucksacks with 120,000 methamphetamine pills.

In the northeast province Amnat Charoen, Suranaree task force soldiers and drug suppression police seized 400,000 methamphetamine pills hidden in a cassava field. Police arrested 2 men.

In the Isaan province Loei, the Surasakmontri task force and local police found 8 million methamphetamine pills hidden in 40 fertiliser sacks at a garbage dump by the Hueang River.
